National Tiger Sanctuary

If your family loves animals, can't get enough of the outdoors, or is just looking for the perfect educational outing for your kids, then make sure to visit the National Tiger Sanctuary on your next Branson vacation. This unique attraction combines education with excitement to make it a must-see on any Branson itinerary. The National Tiger Sanctuary is one of the world's most respected animal habitats of its kind, and people flock from all over the country to visit the big cats who live there.

The National Tiger Sanctuary is located just a short drive north of Branson and is dedicated both to preserving the environment and providing a unique educational experience for each of its visitors. This non-profit animal habitat was built in 2000 and is devoted to providing a safe, permanent home for all sorts of exotic and domestic animals, not just tigers.

Upon meeting the National Tiger Sanctuary's passionate and well-educated staff, you'll realize that each of them makes caring for the animals at the sanctuary their number one priority. These animal-loving heroes give their furry charges the highest level of care. Since the safety and comfort of the animals at the National Tiger Sanctuary is the staff's primary goal, they only give guided tours of the facility. This assures that the cats have plenty of time to rest between visitors and that tours don't interfere with the animals' schedules. Each animal has a special, individualized diet perfectly tailored to meet its unique needs, and the animals are always fed healthy, fresh food. The animals are also all given access to natural surfaces and their special environments were created to give the animals plenty of room to move around, just like they would in the wild. The team at the National Tiger Sanctuary doesn't just want their animals to survive-they want them to thrive.

The majority of the National Tiger Sanctuary's 25 beautiful and exotic animals are tigers, but the facility is also home to several lions, panthers, and cheetahs. It also plays host to several domesticated dogs and cats. On your guided tour of the sanctuary, you could make friends with a panther named Blackie, Bambi the cheetah, tigers Harry, Jaycee, Kora, and Etana, and a lion named Leo. You'll also learn about the animals' personalities. For instance, lioness Matula is the youngest of three female lions that were rescued in 2013, and she and another lion, Judah, are particularly fond of each other. They love to snuggle and play together!

The National Tiger sanctuary is a non-profit organization, so all of the admission fees it collects from its tours go directly back into caring for the sanctuary's animals, keeping the facility up and running, and providing a high-quality educational experience for each of its guests. Their wide variety of tours means that no matter what your experience with animals, your age, or your education level, there is sure to be something new for you to learn there. The Awareness Tour introduces you to tigers and lions and their unique personalities, and you'll learn all sorts of fun facts and useful knowledge about the big cats. The Feeding Tour includes many of the same features as the Awareness Tour but adds on the excitement of visiting the cats at feeding time, seeing how they eat, and learning details about each of their diets. To get even more up-close and personal with the sanctuary's residents, take the You Feed Tour. This experience lets you feed the cats yourselves!

You'll receive an up-close look at the inner workings of the National Tiger Sanctuary on the Behind the Scenes Tour. On this tour, you'll have access to twice as many animals as the other tours and you'll be able to watch feeding time up close as you join the sanctuary's staff in feeding the animals. If your family is feeling particularly adventurous, you can even visit the sanctuary after dark. The Tigers by Twilight Tour teaches you all about how these animals hunt at night. If none of these tours gives you all the information you desire, you can even sign up for a 5-hour Day with the Director Tour. This in-depth, comprehensive tour of the National Tiger Sanctuary gives you a VIP look at the everyday workings of the sanctuary. You'll be able to learn even more about feeding time, hear about animal transportation, and so much more. You'll leave feeling like you could work at the sanctuary yourself!

For an educational, exciting experience unlike any other, make sure to visit the National Tiger Sanctuary on your next trip to Branson, Missouri. This unique attraction is sure to capture the hearts of young and old alike and give your family memories that will last a lifetime!
